The effects of administration of estrogen on the testes of rabbits

Abstract
|
|
|
Adult male rabbits were divided into three groups and each group was administrated, respectively, with 800 I.U. /kg., 4, 000I.U. /kg., 8, 000 I.U./ kg.
Observing the histological findings on the testes of the rabbits for 8 weeks after administration, the following results were obtained.
1. Macroscopically, the testes showed marked atrophy and distinguished decrease of parenchyma.
2. Histologically, the testes showed the atrophy of seminiferous tubules, decreased number of spermatogenic cells and Sertoli cells. The Leydig cells were markedly replaced with connective tissue.
